The overarching goal of this project is to improve scientific understanding of climate and air quality response to Atmospheric Methane Removal (AMR). Toward this goal, this project has two specific objectives:
Yangyang Xu is an Associate Professor in the Department of Atmospheric Sciences at Texas A&M University, where he has been a faculty member since September 2016. He obtained his B.S. in Atmospheric Sciences from Peking University in 2008, and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Earth Sciences from the Scripps Institution of Oceanography, University of California, San Diego, in 2011 and 2014, respectively. Xu's research focuses on the intersections of climate change, atmospheric chemistry, and air pollution. He has made significant contributions to understanding the climate effects of methane, the interactions between air pollution and climate extremes, and the impacts of Arctic amplification on dust decline in Asia. His work has been published in top-tier journals such as the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society.
